The DART Board of Directors has made the Discount GoPass® Tap card program permanent.
Current Discount GoPass® Tap card holders must renew by Dec. 31, 2024, to keep their discount.
During the first days of January 2025, DARTmart will be open for extended hours to give you more opportunities to renew your Discount GoPass® Tap Card registration:

A current participant card with an expiration date or an agency letter are valid forms of proof. They must have your name on them. Scan or take a clear photo of the document.
Have someone else take a headshot photo of you from the shoulders up, forward facing, square to the camera, with a plain neutral background. Do not wear a hat, sunglasses, or shaded glasses. Do not submit a selfie photo, a photo of a photo, or a photo or scan of your driver's license.

You can ride the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) as far west as DFW Airport/CentrePort Station. You will need to purchase a Regional fare beyond that, as well as on the Trinity Metro or Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) systems
Like a prepaid card, you load value onto your Discount GoPass® Tap card account before you start riding DART. Then, you simply touch the card to the electronic reader every time you board or transfer to a vehicle. Your fare deducts automatically.
They are located on buses and at rail stations. You do not need to tap as you exit or de-board.
There is no purchase or activation fee. However, there is an initial $6 minimum load.
You will need to provide your first name, last name, and current proof of participation in any of the qualifying assistance programs.
You also will be asked to provide an email address so you can manage your Discount GoPass® Tap card account online. An email address is not required to obtain your card.
No. The card itself acts as proof of eligibility for a reduced fare.
Each familiy member must register individually, and each will receive his or her own Discount GoPass Tap card. When you apply for your tap card, upload your current participant card or agency letter from a qualifying assistance program and any documentation that lists all family members who also receive benefits.
Your card may take up to 15 business days to arrive in the mail. If it has been longer than that,
call DART's Tap for Half team at 972-482-6491.
The expiration date of your new Discount GoPass® Tap card will be based on the eligibility period of your qualifying assistance program. For example, if your qualifying benefit expires on March 5, 2025, then your Discount GoPass® Tap card will also expire.
To renew your discount, you must: 1. visit DARTmart at Akard Station; 2. provide documentation that you still qualify for the program; and 3. receive a new card.
If you do not renew your registration by Dec. 31, 2024, your Discount GoPass® Tap card will still work, but the system will now deduct a full local adult fare. Your card will no longer serve as a reduced-fare photo ID.
