Media Contact: September 9, 1998 Three DART services take you to the State Fair Park the car and fly DART to the State Fair of Texas Families can count on DART to get them to the State Fair like never before.DART's State Fair Flyer whisks fairgoers directly to the fun every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from September 25 to October 18. Free parking is available at eight conveniently located park and ride lots. From there, fairgoers ride in air-conditioned comfort, entering the fairgrounds at the Starplex entrance. Save money by buying special State Fair Flyer Combo tickets in advance at participating Kroger supermarkets -- the $12 price includes round-trip bus service and State Fair admission. Otherwise, customers pay their fare when they get to the fair: $7 round-trip for adults, and $6 for children ages 5-11, seniors 65+ and customers with disabilities. State Fair Flyer buses leave park and ride locations from 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., with the last return trip at 12 midnight. On Fridays and Mondays, buses depart on the hour; on Saturdays and Sundays, buses depart on the half-hour. This year's fair has it all. Grab a front row seat for Future Visions, spotlighting some of the technological wonders destined to change our lives in 2000. Other great shows include Alien Ballet, a gymnastics show with music; Kid Fish, a well-stocked pond with kid-sized poles; and more than 70 terrific Midway rides! Richardson Transit Center (Arapaho Road & Greenville Ave.) New service to the Fair Weekend fairgoers can ride DART's light rail to Pearl Station in downtown Dallas, then transfer to a DART Shuttle Bus for a quick trip to the State Fair and back for just $1 more. This new service is available on Saturdays and Sundays only. The bus will take passengers to the main Fair gate near Parry and First. Departures are every 20 minutes from 9:30 a.m.. The last shuttle leaves the DART bus shelter at the Fair main gate at 11:30 p.m. DART's Trinity Railway Express links parking to gates Gotta drive? DART still has a ride for you, the Big Tex Express. On Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Monday, October 5, and on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12, fairgoers can ride free from designated State Fair parking areas aboard DART's Trinity Railway Express rail cars to entrances near the Cotton Bowl or the Chevy Silverado Main Stage. The trains depart on the half-hour from 10 a.m. until midnight. The State Fair of Texas offers 48 acres of lighted and secured parking areas on Haskell west of Dolphin Road, and on Fitzhugh across from Starplex -- both areas easily accessible from I-30. Parking in the State Fair lots is $5, and Big Tex Express shuttles transport fairgoers to two new entrances on the north side of the fairgrounds.
