DART to operate Sunday schedule on Labor Day

Downtown Rail Improvements Require Some Station Closures and Bus Shuttles Sunday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 3

DART services will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, September 3, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Customers should be aware of the following:

  • Bus and light rail services will follow a Sunday schedule.

  • The Trinity Railway Express commuter rail will not operate.

  • The High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane on I-30 (East R. L. Thornton) and on I-30 West (Tom Landry Freeway) will be closed, as will the reversible S-ramp at the southern end of the I-35E (Stemmons) HOV lane. The HOV lane on I-35E/U.S. 67 that runs from downtown Dallas to Loop 12 will also be closed.

  • The remaining portion of the Stemmons HOV lanes, the HOV lanes on LBJ Freeway, and the HOV lanes on I-35E/U.S. 67 from Loop 12 to Camp Wisdom Road will, as usual, be open 24 hours.

  • DART Paratransit services for customers with disabilities will operate on a Sunday schedule. The Paratransit Scheduling Center will be closed on September 3. Customers may call Friday, August 31, to book their trips through Tuesday, September 4. X-Press Booking is also available.

Bus shuttles replace trains between Mockingbird & West End stations
From 12:01 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2nd, and during the same hours on Monday, Sept. 3rd, northbound and southbound train service between Mockingbird and West End stations will be replaced with bus shuttles.

Southbound Red and Blue Line trains will operate to Mockingbird station. Northbound Red and Blue Line trains will operate to West End station. There will be no rail service between the following stations: Mockingbird, Cityplace, Pearl, St. Paul, Akard, and West End.

Two bus shuttles will operate approximately every 10 minutes:

LOCAL BUS SHUTTLE SERVICE: will circulate between Mockingbird and West End stations for passengers who have destinations at Cityplace, Pearl, St. Paul, or Akard stations.

NON-STOP SHUTTLE SERVICE: will provide service to Mockingbird and West End stations for passengers who wish to continue Red or Blue Line rail services Northbound (Mockingbird) or Southbound (West End).

Customers should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time, and check the schedule on any connecting bus routes they may be using. Customers with questions about schedules may still contact Customer Service at 214-979-1111 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Route and schedule information is always available on the DART website and construction updates are available at www.DART.org/constructionupdates.

DART Rail expansion smoothes connections
The construction will result in a more direct rail route in and out of the subway under North Central Expressway. In addition to making train trips faster and smoother, this project and modifications planned at downtown stations during the next two years will make the system more convenient as it makes way for new Green Line service.

When complete in 2010, the 28-mile Green Line will connect Pleasant Grove, Downtown Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton. The first phase, between Downtown Dallas and Fair Park, is scheduled to open September 2009.
