Nearly 7,000 voters served

DART Out to Vote! drive a success

Eleven DART train stations and bus transit centers served as the setting to register 2,700 new Dallas County voters at the first-ever DART Out to Vote! drive. The League of Women Voters of Dallas (LWV) set up shop at the DART facilities and recruited and trained close to 400 volunteers to educate nearly 7,000 commuters on how to vote for the upcoming November 7 general elections.

"We're glad to have contributed to an effort that aims to increase voting awareness in our community," says Sue Bauman, DART Vice President of Marketing and Communications. "What better place to achieve a rise in voting consciousness than at DART facilities where thousands of commuters travel each day."

In addition, results on a survey, titled "Why Texas Women Don't Vote," conducted by the LWV confirmed the need for organizations like theirs to provide information and resources to the citizens of Dallas County. The DART Out to Vote! coalition hopes the upcoming voting cycle will reflect its efforts with an increase in voter turnout.

Ride DART on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7
Passengers displaying a valid voter registration card can ride DART free during the hours of 6 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Election Day.
