Media Contact: March 11, 1998 Get your passes at new DART Store! DART opens new retail store at Akard Station, March 23 Soon DART customers will have two downtown locations for buying transit passes and other transit-related merchandise. The Grand Opening of The DART Store -- located just inside DART Headquarters at the Akard Station near Akard and Pacific -- takes place on March 23. Open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the store will sell all DART bus and rail passes, as well as a line of T-shirts, caps and other DART items. "Since the introduction of rail here, DART staff constantly receives requests for memorabilia featuring the area's number one attraction," said Matt Raymond, DART Assistant Vice President of Marketing. The first 250 visitors to the new store on March 23 will receive a free DART pass-holder. DART passes and merchandise also are available at the agency's original downtown retail outlet -- The DART Store at Elm and Ervay. Both stores will be sporting a new boutique-style look, with bright yellow awnings inside and out. Raymond said the Akard Station location for the new store is ideal for rail customers, as well as bus patrons coming and going from DART's West Transfer Center, just two blocks away in the West End. "We know that customers like the convenience and savings of picking up their transit passes in advance of riding. Sales have increased 10 times over at Minyard Food Stores since they started selling DART passes at all stores last year." All DART retail outlets offer local monthly passes for $30; premium monthly passes for $60; a student/senior citizen monthly pass for $10; and DART Paratransit passes. Packs of single-ride tickets are also available. DART passes and ticket books may be purchased at all Albertson's, Fiesta, Carnival and Minyard Food Stores in DART's service area. -- 30 -- |
