DART bus shooting suspect arrested

Dallas Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting Wednesday morning on board a DART bus near Bonnieview and Ledbetter. The suspect was taken into custody just before 2 p.m. and will be questioned by DART Police as part of their investigation.

The shooting happened just before 10:30 this morning on board Route 554. There were a total of seven people on board the bus. No one else was injured. The remaining passengers were transferred to another bus. The person who was shot was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in stable condition with a single wound to the upper thigh.

Incidents of this type are very rare for DART. To promote safety DART Police will periodically ride undercover on bus routes, provide bus escorts, assign officers to ride buses in full uniform just to be seen and, along with Fare Enforcement Officers, meet buses all hours of the day and night at station platforms and other transfer locations.
