"Taste & See" for less by riding DART to the State Fair of Texas Once again, the best ride to the fair is the first ride, on DART.
The DART State Fair Shuttle takes customers directly from Cityplace Station to the front door of the country's biggest state fair for just $2. And to make it an even better deal, get $2 off admission to the fair when riding the Shuttle. The shuttle fare is cash only.
Ride DART Rail or the McKinney Avenue Streetcar to Cityplace Station. The Day Pass, $2.50 and available at all DART stations or in advance online at DART.org, is the best value for getting to Cityplace Station. Most DART stations have free parking. There is no parking at Cityplace Station. The Shuttle operates Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 27 - Oct. 19. Shuttle buses depart Cityplace Station's east entrance every 10 minutes beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the last Shuttle departing the Fair for Cityplace at 11:30 p.m.
Ride before your run
On Saturday, Sept. 27, the DART State Fair Shuttle takes off at 7:30 a.m. for the third annual State Fair 5K Run & Big Tex Mile. The Big Tex Mile starts at 8:30 a.m., the 5K at 8:45 a.m.
Big Tex Express
Also on Saturdays and Sundays, motorists can ride the free "Big Tex Express" train between auxiliary parking at the fairgrounds to a gate near the Cotton Bowl. The State Fair of Texas offers acres of lighted and secured parking off Haskell west of Dolphin Road -- easily accessible from I-30. Parking is $7. The free Trinity Railway Express rail vehicle operates continuously from 10 a.m. to midnight.
