Sculptor Karl Ciesluk's ceramic mosaic piece reflects both the natural setting and the history of nearby Hamilton Park, an early residential community built for middle income African-Americans during a time when decent housing was denied in most Dallas neighborhoods. "'Against the Mainstream,' depicts fish swimming upstream, representing the determination of the African-Americans who spoke up for civil rights and decent housing," said Vicki Meek, the station design team artist.
