Plano’s Parker Road Station

DART provides various parking options. No matter where you live or how often you ride, we are committed to providing our riders with convenient parking options. You can comfortably park your car and hop on board.

With DART Transit's parking option, you will never have to navigate the crowds for another frustrating hunt for a spot. Free parking is available for riders at all DART bus and rail stations’ park-and-ride facilities without regard to their residency.

Plano's Parker Road Station features a structured parking system reserved for residents of the DART service area. The reserved parking lot is located east of Archerwood street, north and south of the station. The vehicles need a Parker Road Station concierge window sticker to park. Vehicles failing to display a valid resident parking permit risk getting their vehicle towed at the owner's expense.

Location of Reserved Parking at Parker Road

The reserved parking lot is east of Archerwood Street, just north and south of the station (see map).

Parking for persons with disabilities and the "kiss and ride" area east of Archerwood and the lot south of the station are not part of the reserved parking program. They will remain open to residents and nonresidents without restriction.

Non-service area residents can park for free in any DART lot west of Archerwood, the southernmost lot of the station, and the northernmost lot east of Archerwood.

We no longer charge for parking permits at any station. Residents can get a reserved parking permit from the DART concierge (station monitor) located at Parker Road Station Transit Center during weekday hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. or on weekends between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Reserved Parking spots are not available at any other DART bus lot or light rail parking lot at this time.

Overnight parking or long-term parking is the responsibility of the customer. DART assumes no responsibility for vehicles left overnight.

DART Park & Ride Reserved Parking Rules and Regulations

Standards for Reserved Parking for Service Area Residents

DART offers free reserved parking for service area residents in the following instances only:
  • The maximum lot utilization must be at least 85 per cent of available spaces on an average weekday.
  • The percent of non-service area vehicles in the lot must exceed 45 percent of the vehicles parked in the lot.
  • DART must have onsite concierge staff at the parking lot on weekdays.
  • As of April 3, 2014, Parker Road Station in Plano is the only DART park & ride lot that meets the reserved parking requirements.

Requirements for the use of Reserved Parking area

Only vehicles that display a valid reserved parking permit may park in a reserved parking lot.

Motorists must be residents of the DART service area to obtain a reserved parking permit. Any vehicle without a permit is in violation and subject to being towed at the owners' expense.

Only primary residents of the following cities are eligible: Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Garland, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Irving, Plano, Richardson, Rowlett, and University Park.

Non-residents are not eligible to obtain a permit but may park free in lots west of Archerwood or east of Archerwood and south of the station.

Residency verification and registration location and hours

A DART concierge will be available at the Parker Road Station transit center during the following days and hours to review verification and registration documentation and issue a reserved parking permit to service area residents:

Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.- 6 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Requirements for the issuance of Reserved Parking Permit

To receive a reserved parking permit, a motorist must provide current and valid proof of residency and verification of vehicle ownership to be parked.

Effective April 3, 2014, anyone with a valid Platinum Parking Permit issued during the paid parking demonstration may use that permit in the reserved parking lots until DART issues updated permits.

Authorized documents for residency verification:

  1. Driver's license
  2. U.S. Passport
  3. Proof of homeowner's insurance
  4. Mortgage or rent statement
  5. Property tax statement
  6. Current utility bill
  7. Certified school record or transcript

Authorized documents for vehicle ownership verification:

  1. Vehicle registration
  2. Proof of vehicle insurance
  3. Vehicle inspection receipt
  4. Vehicle title
  5. Vehicle bill of sale

Once residency and vehicle ownership are verified, the concierge will write the vehicle's license plate number on the parking permit and issue a sticker to the motorist. The permit is free.

The concierge will also maintain a spreadsheet database of the names and vehicles to which permits are issued. Telephone numbers, email and mailing address will also be retained in the event DART needs to contact permit holders for business reasons.

Where to place the Reserved Parking Permit

Motorists must affix and display the sticker on the lower, driver's side corner of the vehicle's windshield, just above the registration and inspection stickers.

Residents may request a sticker for each of the vehicles that they own; however, the vehicle must be present at the time of verification.

Enforcement

DART Police will monitor the reserved parking lot to verify that all vehicles display valid permits correctly. Vehicles without a valid permit are subject to being towed at the owners' expense.

Vehicles that are towed will be documented by DART Police and reported to other police databases. Upon contacting DART Police or other police agencies, the owner will be given the vehicle's location. As per the law permits, the owner will be responsible for towing and storage costs.

Signage used to identify Reserved Parking Program at Parker Road Station

DART will inform motorists about the reserved parking program and towing enforcement procedures by installing signage at restricted lot entrances. The DART Police number will be displayed to notify owners of towed vehicles how they may be retrieved.

Additionally, signage will include information on how and where service area residents can obtain reserved parking permits.

Signage will also be displayed on the DART lots west and east of Archerwood, indicating where the parking is unreserved.
