Women's Transportation Seminar Hosts Federal Highway Official at October Luncheon Gloria Jeff, Deputy Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is the featured speaker at the next meeting of the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) on Wednesday, October 20, at the Arlington Hilton. The meeting and luncheon begin at noon. Jeff, an authority on intermodal issues and urban planning, will speak on the impact of air quality sanctions on transportation. The FHWA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and works with state and local governments to improve the quality of the nation's highway system and intermodal connections. Jeff was named Deputy Administrator by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater in August 1997. She previously served as FHWA Associate Administrator for Policy, where she oversaw the development of the agency's Strategic Plan, including a comprehensive outreach effort to public and private organizations.
