Three new members named to DART Board

City councils in Dallas, Garland and Plano have recently appointed three new members to the Board of Directors of Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

Claude R. Williams, Jr., a general dentist in private practice, will represent Dallas on the DART Board; businessman Tracey M. Whitaker will represent Garland; and former city council member Loretta L. Ellerbe will represent Plano.

Claude R. Williams, Jr.
The Dallas City Council appointed Williams to the DART Board in 2008. He is a former board member of the Dallas Ballet and Dallas Classical Guitar Society, and past member of the Medicaid Dental Advisory Board for the Texas Department of Health, and is a past member of Leadership Dallas. He has been president of the Gulf State Dental Association and chaplain of the Dallas County Dental Society. Williams earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry and received his Masters in Professional Studies Biomechanical Trauma from Lynn University.

Tracey M. Whitaker
Whitaker, a City of Garland appointee to the DART Board, was with the Xerox Corporation starting out as a Sales Representative, and rising to the position of Vice President & General Manager and recently left FedEx Kinko's after five years as a Director of Sales. Whitaker also is an Adjunct Professor at Dallas Baptist University, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the North Texas Crime Commission. Whitaker has served on various boards including Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Citizens Council, Asian Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Symphony, and the United Way, and the SMU Cox School of Business, and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Bishop College and his Masters in Organizational Management from Dallas Baptist University.

Loretta L. Ellerbe
Ellerbe served on the Plano City Council from 2005 to 2008. She was its representative on the Regional Transportation Council and the National League of Cities Transportation/Infrastructure Steering Committee. Ellerbe also chaired Plano's Planning and Zoning Board and serves on the Collin County Plan Board. Appointed to the DART Board in 2008 by the Plano City Council, Ellerbe is known for her active role in the community.
