Media Contact: April 28, 1999 Park Lane Station Construction Update North Central Rail Construction Making Progress Construction is well underway on DART's first aerial station located at Park Lane and Greenville. In anticipation of the start of construction, DART has acquired additional parking spaces north of the parking lot.Beginning Friday April 30, 1999, the existing Park Lane Station parking lot will be reconfigured. About 200 spaces of the parking lot will be closed to make room for the construction of DART Light Rail extension. Customers are encouraged to use the adjacent General Cinema parking garage and the parking lot north of the theater. When complete, the station will be an oasis of water-blue columns, wave-shaped flower beds and paving at ground level, rising 24 feet on water-blue columns to the platform near a major entertainment district of the city. The 12.3-mile extension of the North Central rail line from Park Lane to Richardson will be complete in summer 2002 and opens in Plano in summer 2003. Following existing rail right-of-way on the east side of U.S. 75, the line includes eight more stations in Dallas at Walnut Hill Lane, Forest Lane, and LBJ Freeway; in Richardson at Spring Valley Road, at Arapaho Road and at Galatyn Park; and in Plano at 15th Street downtown and at the East Plano Transit Center, Archerwood St. between Park Blvd. E. and Parker Road. -- 30 -- |
