New multi-cultural series celebrates a decade of poems on DART buses and trains
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and Richland College are marking the 11th edition of the national Poetry in Motion program with a diverse collection of 15 poems from outstanding contemporary poets from Texas and around the nation, as well as traditional English and American poems.
Traditional poems include "Jenny Kiss'd Me" and Anne Bradstreet's "To My Dear and Loving Husband."
Each of the new poems in the series were read by local poets Richland College President Steve Mittelstet and Richland College students during a special presentation June 17 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson.
Previous poems have featured works by Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson and Langston Hughes in addition to Texas poets such as Isabel Nathaniel, Frederick Turner and Jack Myers. The poems are posted in each of DART's buses and trains.
The new series of poems, and previous poems may be viewed at www.DART.org/Poetry.
