Media Relations Contact: July 5, 2019 DART PD presented with fallen officer 'honor chair' A San Antonio nonprofit organization that honors fallen first responders by building special wooden chairs in their honor has presented a chair to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police Department. ![]() Brent Thompson's parents, Paulette and Sam Thompson ![]() Brent Thompson's chair at DART Police Headquarters Thompson was the first DART police officer killed in the line of duty almost three years ago on July 7, 2016 after a protest march in downtown Dallas turned violent. His heroism led to President Donald Trump posthumously presenting him on May 22 with a Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor.
