Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has worked with the cities of Richardson and Dallas to secure weekend closures of frontage roads along the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) and Dallas North Tollway (DNT) later this June and July. The closures are needed to complete rail crossings that are part of the DART Silver Line Regional Rail Project.
There will be a four-day full closure of the eastbound and westbound frontage roads between K Avenue and U.S. 75. Both frontage roads will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday, June 14, until 4 p.m. Monday, June 17.
Silver Line construction will impact DART bus service in Richardson during the time of the closure. Passengers using bus routes 232 and 883 East are advised of a temporary closure of the Bush Turnpike Service Road and access to the CityLine/Bush Station.
During the closure, riders on 883 East will be able to reach the station from a detour over State Street and Plano Road by exiting at a temporary bus stop near the station. Route 232 customers will share the existing stop with Route 245 near West CityLine Drive and West Routh Drive.
Normal service is expected to resume around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17. There will be no delays or service interruption to Red or Orange Line light rail service due to the closure or construction.
“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience to our normal bus passengers and are grateful for their understanding as we ensure the safest possible environment for our commuters and workers as we progress with Silver Line construction,” said Trey Walker, DART vice president for capital design and construction.
The DART Silver Line is a 26-mile commuter rail that traverses seven North Texas cities (Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, Plano) between DFW Airport and Shiloh Road in Plano. The regional rail alignment crosses three counties (Collin, Dallas, Tarrant) and will provide service to improve mobility and accessibility across the northern portion of the DART service area. DART Silver Line revenue service is scheduled to begin in late 2025 to early 2026.
