DART Schedules Public Hearing and Community  Meetings on Potential Service Changes
May 2, 2026 election results will determine scope of changes

DALLAS, January 27, 2026 — The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors has called for a public hearing to take place March 24, 2026 in preparation for potential successful withdrawal elections. Additional community education meetings will be held in February and March in all 13 member cities and virtually to inform the public about specific impacts to DART services.

The service changes would only be enacted if a city, or cities successfully withdrawals from DART as a result of the May 2, 2026 election. Cities currently calling for a vote include Farmers Branch, Highland Park, Irving, Plano, and University Park. Voters in those cities will decide if their city continues to contribute 1% of sales tax revenues to DART to continue to receive DART services in their cities. If a city successfully withdrawals from DART during the May 2, 2026 election, services would cease immediately upon canvassing of the vote, and as early as May 3, 2026.

While only residents in the five cities are voting on continued participation in DART, a successful withdrawal from any city would affect riders across the DART service area. DART is required by law to host a public hearing in preparation for these potential changes. If all cities with DART participation on the ballot successfully withdraw, service changes may include:

  • Closure of the following Rail Stations
    • Downtown Plano Station
    • Belt Line Station
    • Hidden Ridge Station
    • Farmers Branch Station
    • Irving Convention Center Station
    • Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station
    • Las Colinas Urban Center Station
    • North Lake College Station
    • Parker Road Station
    • Shiloh Road Station
    • University of Dallas Station
    • West Irving Station
    • 12th Street Station
  • Changes in service on Red, Orange, Green and Sliver lines and Trinity Railway Express (TRE)
  • Elimination of bus routes operating wholly inside the withdrawn city.
  • Bus routes connecting through or to those cities would be amended or eliminated.
  • GoLink service modified in:
    • Cypress Waters
    • Keller Springs
    • Park Cities
    • East Telecom
  • GoLink service that could cease in a withdrawn city include:
    • East Plano
    • Far North Plano
    • Legacy
    • North Central Plano/Chase Oaks
    • South Central Plano
    • Plano Zone-to-Zone
    • Passport Park / Bear Creek
    • North Central Irving
    • South Irving
    • Farmers Branch
  • Paratransit service would end in any city that withdraws. Trips beginning or ending in withdrawn cities would no longer be provided. Trips that pass through a withdrawn city could be amended or re-routed.

DART invites riders, residents, and stakeholders to attend pre-public hearing community sessions, submit feedback, and participate in the formal Public Hearing process during the DART Board meeting that is scheduled for March 24, 2026, at 6 p.m.
