DART hosting Bike to Work 'Energizer Stations'
May weather is made for cycling in our region and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is celebrating cycling and National Bike to Work Day with four Bike Energizer Stations on Friday, May 17.
Cycling enthusiasts and interested persons are invited to join DART, BikeDFW and the cities of Plano, Richardson, Garland and Dallas from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at DART's Downtown Garland, Akard or Arapaho rail stations, and at the Bluebonnet and Chisholm Trail intersection in Plano, near the Dog Park. The Bike Energizer Stations will have information about the host cities bike initiatives and offer bike promotional items, local vendor offerings, refreshments and tune-ups.
In addition, visitors can learn about a planned June 1 celebration at Main Street Gardens in Dallas to highlight the completion of Centralink. This new bicycle infrastructure through downtown Dallas connects Oak Cliff, the Katy Trail and the Santa Fe Trail. The June event is open to the public and includes a bike ride originating from the different trails, food, musical entertainment, special guests and free bike services.
Biking to work is good for the environment, good for your health, and makes more sense than ever considering all of DART's bus and rail connections. Customers can ride their bike to any transit or rail station and use one of more than 140 bike lids to store their bicycle. They can also take advantage of bike racks on every bus and train to combine bicycles and transit. Bicycles are permitted on any DART vehicle and all Trinity Railway Express (TRE) trains. Learn more by visiting www.DART.org/bike.
