More Seats, Less Crowding

Train riders will have a more comfortable trip once all DART Rail stations can accommodate three-car trains.
Benefits include:
  • Increased passenger capacity
    — More seats
    — Fewer people standing
  • More level-boarding areas
    — Easier to get on and off

Longer Platforms = Longer Trains

DART is lengthening train platforms at 28 (almost half of all of DART's) light rail stations along the Red and Blue Lines. All other light rail stations were either built to accommodate three-car trains or already have been modified. Once the work is complete, the entire DART Rail System will accommodate three-car trains.

Longer train platforms will mean DART can operate three-car trains on any rail line during peak hours or during special events when the trains are most crowded.

Construction begins in spring 2019 and is anticipated to be finished in late 2021.

Temporary Changes to Expect

  • Rail stations should stay open during construction.
  • All or part of the train platform may be closed.
  • One or more train platform crosswalks may be closed; at least one walkway will always be open.
  • Trains may utilize only one side of the platform.

Where to Go

As work proceeds, you may be directed in different directions to reach your train or bus.
  • Watch for clearly marked signs that will direct you on where to board and access the platform.
  • Allow extra time for moving through the station or transferring between trains and buses.

Access for Persons with Disabilities

During construction, DART will make every effort to maintain accessibility for customers.

Using a Bus Bridge

If train activity is temporarily suspended at a station, passengers may be asked to use a bus bridge to start and/or complete their journey. These buses will display a SHUTTLE destination sign and load at the red bus stops located at each station.

DART will provide updated information on the estimated time frame of each phase of work as it becomes available. For additional information, subscribe to Rail Construction Alerts at DART.org/email, visit DART.org/plus or contact Customer Service at 214-979-1111.

A dónde ir
