In his new position, jointly funded by DART and the T, Sklannik will be responsible for oversight and day-to-day supervision of TRE operations, including the development of train schedules and equipment utilization plans. He will also play an active role in developing strategies for marketing the service and enhancing customer satisfaction. In his tenure at the Virginia Railway Express (VRE), Sklannik developed and implemented a variety of programs that led to the doubling of ridership since his arrival in 2000 from 7,500 passenger trips to more than 15,000 passenger trips. In addition, he spearheaded the first short- and long-term planning documents for VRE, mapping out a growth blueprint for the next 20 years. Prior to his assignment at the Virginia Railway Express, Sklannik was employed by the Long Island Rail Road for more than 10 years in a variety of capacities, including director of Market Development. In that position he was responsible for programs aimed at building ridership, improving operational efficiency and increasing customer satisfaction. Sklannik received his undergraduate degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Masters Degree in Urban Policy & Analysis from the New School University in New York.
