Joyce Foreman to represent Dallas on DART Board of Directors Joyce Foreman has been appointed to represent the City of Dallas on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors. Board members are appointed by the city councils of DART's 13 member cities and serve two-year terms.
Foreman, owner of Foreman's Office Products, Inc., has been in business for more than 20 years. She is a lifelong resident of Dallas, and brings business and community service experience to the DART Board.
Foreman was recently appointed president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's Dallas chapter. She also serves on the board or committees of the Chairman's Task Force of the State Fair of Texas, the Dallas Together Forum, D.I.S.D. Advisory Group District 6, the Women's Quick Response Team and the Community Advisory Committee of Chase Bank. She is president of the African-American Women Entrepreneurs and Fair Park's Dallas Aquarium Committee.
Some of Foreman's recognitions include Minority Business Advocate of the Year for the State of Texas (Small Business Administration) 1989, Entrepreneur of the Year (Dallas Weekly) 1992, Certificate of Recognition (Congresswomen Eddie Bernice Johnson) 1993, Fort Worth Black Chamber Excellence Award 1997, Texas Black Women Conference Outstanding Business Award 1998, and Community Service Award KRLD & Guaranty Bank, 2001.
She received an A.A. in Liberal Arts from El Centro College and a B.S. in Management from Paul Quinn College. -- 30 --
