Media Relations Contact: September 12, 2016 Former X Factor Contestant Kicks Off DART Music Station Series in Plano Celebrate a night of '80s R&B and Rock 'N' Roll Sept. 14, from 6-7 p.m. when DART and the city of Plano present Panda Ross, a singer and former X Factor USA contestant, at a one-hour musical performance at the Downtown Plano Station. DART's Music Stations are part of the celebration of 20 years of light rail. The fun began June 14 and is scheduled to continue through Dec. 20. It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase local musical talent, DARTable cities and unique gems within communities that are easily accessible from a rail station or bus stop. The Historic Downtown Plano renaissance as an urban center was stimulated by the arrival of DART light rail in 2002. In 2015, Downtown Plano was named one of four Great Neighborhoods on the American Planning Association's list of Great Places in America. "I'm excited just to be a part of the celebration," Ross said. "I'm grateful that DART offers local artists an opportunity to share their gift with their community." Ross was a contestant on the 2012 season of X Factor USA. Meeting new people and sharing her music are two things about the event Ross looks forward to most, and are also things she enjoys doing most days. Monday through Friday, you can find Ross humming to an upbeat tune at the Starbucks at Renaissance Tower in Downtown Dallas. She rides the Blue Line to Akard Station each weekday to work. Ross, who "loves to just get on the train and ride," said it's exciting to know that DART's Music Stations provide such an upbeat event for cities within DART's reach. -- 30 -- |
