DART Delivers New Bus Service, Improved Routes DART's May 22 service change covers a lot of ground.
DART expands its On-Call service to Rowlett and opens a park & ride facility there as well. In addition, DART is making Trolley-Bus service in downtown Dallas more convenient, extending a bus route at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and introducing a number of bus route improvements in Pleasant Grove and South Dallas.
Details on all the changes are available on the DART website, www.DART.org. Customers with specific route questions can use either of those resources or call DART Customer Information at 214-979-1111.
Rowlett DART debuted its On-Call service in Plano last June and brings it to Rowlett on May 22. DART On-Call customers simply call the van driver at 214-822-2255 (214-822-CALL) to schedule trips between their homes and the new Rowlett Park & Ride. One-way trips will be $2 with free transfers to any DART bus route. Premium monthly passes also are valid. Hours of operation will be 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
DART's new Rowlett Park & Ride, located on the southeast corner of Industrial Street and Martin Drive, features an enhanced passenger shelter and parking for 326 cars. The site of a future DART light rail station will be the starting point for a number of bus improvements in the area.
Pleasant Grove The network of bus routes currently serving Pleasant Grove is being improved to provide more direct service across the community seven days a week and more frequent bus service to reduce crowding on heavily-traveled routes.
South Dallas Several route changes in South Dallas are designed to provide more frequent service, increase transfer opportunities and improve customer access to the Cedars Rail Station and the area around Parkland Memorial Hospital and Children's Medical Center seven days a week.
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Bus Route 202 will be extended to provide direct service from downtown Dallas to passenger terminals E and A at D/FW Airport. Selected trips will continue to serve United Parcel Service and other employment sites without stopping at the terminals.
Trolley-Bus Route Changes The A, B and C loops of Trolley-Bus Route 706 in downtown Dallas will be replaced by a single route operating north and south every 10 minutes during rush hours and every 15 minutes during the midday between Convention Center Rail Station and the Crescent Court via St. Paul, Ervay and Young streets.
Trolley-Bus Route 702 linking Park Lane Station and NorthPark Center will be modified to use the NorthPark bridge over North Central Expressway. Currently the route travels over the expressway on Northwest Highway. Passengers without transfer slips, passes or valid train tickets will be required to pay a 50-cent fare upon boarding at Park Lane Station.
