Ask DART. The safety of DART riders and employees is our top priority. If you're ready to ride again, we're here for you. And here's what you need to know:
What is DART doing to keep buses and trains hygienic and clean?

Buses and trains are cleaned daily, with vehicles receiving end-of-the-line cleanings that include disinfectant foggers and special attention to high-touch surfaces such as handrails and hanging straps. All vehicles are sanitized using an EPA-approved cleaning agent.

DART is a proud participant in the American Public Transportation Association's Health and Safety Commitments Program. The program centers on shared commitments - transit agencies doing their part and transit users doing theirs. We join other transit agencies across the country in pledging to our riders that we will operate safely while delivering valuable services during the pandemic.

APTA Health and Safety Commitments Program The Seal of Commitment means we have pledged to:
  • Follow official guidance
  • Protect each other through smart practices and behaviors
  • Make informed choices based on timely information
  • Put health first
BEFORE YOU STEP ONBOARD, WE STEP INTO ACTION. As we all get back to work, DART is committed to creating a safe and comfortable experience for you and all of our riders across North Texas.

When can I expect DART buses and trains to run on a regular schedule again?

On Monday, Oct.19, DART restored service levels to 90% of their pre-pandemic levels.

The Trinity Railway Express (TRE) has also returned to pre-pandemic service levels.

For more detailed information, please visit DART.org/mod.

What service levels can I expect in the near future?

Until further notice:
  • Seven higher volume bus routes and light rail service will offer 20-minute frequency weekdays until 7 p.m., and 30-minute frequency thereafter.
  • Weekend service remains unchanged.
  • Transit Center indoor seating areas, as well as the DARTmart store and Lost & Found, will remain temporarily closed.

How can I retrieve Lost & Found items if DART Headquarters is closed to the public?

Call us. You can reach DART Lost & Found at 214-749-3810 and schedule a time to get your property at DART Headquarters, located right at Akard Station in downtown Dallas.

Certain items are considered high priority, so you can get these items right away:
  • Purses/wallets
  • Cellphones or laptops
  • Prescription medication or glasses
  • Canes/walkers
  • Keys
  • Identification and bank cards
For your own protection, larger items such as backpacks will be quarantined for 14 days.

But how can I get to the Lost & Found window if the building is closed?

You should arrive close to your scheduled appointment time, go to the rear entrance of DART Headquarters (on Federal Street), and use the intercom to the right of the doors.

You'll need a photo ID. If you are retrieving a lost ID, bring another valid form of identification.

NO TOUCH PAYMENTS. SAFER. FASTER. EASIER. With the GoPass® Tap card and GoPass® app, you'll enjoy a no touch payment experience every time you ride a DART bus or train.

I'd rather not touch ticket vending machines or fare boxes. How can I avoid them?
GoPass app
DART offers two contactless fare payment options: the GoPass® app or a GoPass® Tap card.

With the app, you can buy passes and plan trips right on your phone. Get the latest version for free from the App Store or Google Play.

GoPass Tap is a reloadable fare-payment card. You can get one at hundreds of retailers, including most 7-Eleven, ACE Cash Express, Tom Thumb and Fiesta Mart locations in the DART Service Area. Load value onto your GoPass Tap card using cash or credit at these same stores; online at GoPass.org; or over the phone by calling DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111.

I qualify for a Discount GoPass Tap card. But how can I get one, when DARTmart and DART Headquarters are closed?

First, check out DART.org/TapForHalf to make sure you qualify. If you do, but have not yet been certified, follow these steps until DARTmart reopens:
  • Purchase a regular yellow GoPass Tap card. Be sure to keep your receipt!
  • Next, register your card at GoPass.org.
  • Call DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111. Tell the agent you qualify for the Discount GoPass Tap card and provide the 13-digit number on the back of your card. DART will apply a temporary half-price discount to that card.
  • Once DARTmart reopens, come to the store in person and exchange your temporary card for the official Discount GoPass Tap Card, so you can continue to enjoy discounted fares. Here's what you'll need to bring:
    • Your yellow GoPass Tap card.
    • The receipt from your original purchase of the card.
    • Proof of participation in one of the qualifying assistance programs.
A new white Discount GoPass Tap card will be issued, and DARTmart staff will transfer any remaining funds to that card.

I forgot to bring my face mask. What now?

Hand sanitizer and Mask dispensers DART's got you covered. You'll find face mask and hand sanitizer dispensers on all buses, light rail vehicles and streetcars. Remember, when you board a DART bus or train, always wear a mask - it's for your safety and others'. Wearing a mask is required by an executive order from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. The masks do not have to be hospital-grade. You can use bandanas, scarfs, fabric masks, etc., to cover both your nose and mouth.

I've been told that my bus is full and to wait for another one. It didn't look full!

Social distancing is critical to helping prevent the spread of spread of coronavirus and that is why we are limiting capacity on our vehicles. Our capacity guidelines:
  • On 40-foot buses, the passenger limit is 20.
  • On 31-foot buses, the limit is 17.
  • On any smaller buses, the limit is 6.
  • On trains, it's 47 per three-section vehicle.
How can I get the latest word on service alerts and other DART-related information?

Sign up for My DART Updates at DART.org/email. You'll get text and/or email messages about specific rail lines and bus routes, along with other DART information.

SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING. WE'LL DO SOMETHING. Riding a DART bus or train should always be a safe and comfortable experience. So if you see something unsafe or unclean, report it on the DART Say Something app.

What if I see a surface that seems unhygienic?

Submit a "Comment or Complaint" through the "DART Say Something" app. You can download it for free from the App Store or Google Play. (The app also allows you to discreetly report security concerns to DART Police.) Or you can call DART Customer Care at 214-749-3333.

ESSENTIAL CONNECTIONS. DART gets you safely throughout North Texas, whether you're commuting to work, keeping a medical appointment, going to school or running an errand.
