Senior citizens are guests of honor during annual DART event
Dallas Area Rapid Transit is inviting senior citizens to get onboard and get informed and entertained on Thursday, May 11, at the Centennial Building at Fair Park, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's the annual Health and Information Fair. The guest emcee will be Telemundo-39 news anchor Teresa Gonzalez.
The annual event is co-sponsored by The Dallas Morning News, Al Dia, Telemundo-39 and NBC5, in partnership with the Community Council of Greater Dallas/Dallas Area Agency on Aging, city of Dallas and Dallas Police Department.
DART has organized what has become the largest senior event in North Texas for 23 years to help bring attention to the issues that affect elder adults and to provide them with complimentary lunch, information, entertainment, health screenings and prizes.
In 2017, the theme for Older Americans Month, Age Out Loud, is intended to give aging a new voice-one that reflects what today's older adults have to say and speaks to opportunities seniors have to create better care, reinforce healthier lifestyles and improve their overall quality of life.
DART's Green Line is the quickest way to Fair Park Station where it's a short walk to Centennial Hall. Attendees are encouraged to ride transit to the health fair.
Contact Jessica Lennon, DART's Manager of Community/Education Outreach at 214-749-2582 for more details. Visit DART.org or call 214-979-1111 for information on riding DART.
