National Night Out to bring DART Police and community together
The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police Department invites the public to join them in participating in the 27th annual National Night Out crime, drug, and violence prevention program sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch on Tuesday, October 2.
For the second year, the neighborhood event with DART Police will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at DART Police Headquarters, 2111 S. Corinth St., Dallas, TX, across from Illinois Station on the Blue Line. Residents are encouraged to visit and participate as DART Police, Radio Disney, Dallas Fire & Rescue and many other vendors and displays will be present along with food, games, giveaways, face painting and lots of fun for kids. Admission is free.
Representatives from DART's police department often attend neighborhood events throughout the agency’s 13 service area cities and answer questions about law enforcement. National Night Out is another opportunity for DART police to interact with residents in a positive, relaxed and informal way.
The purpose of National Night Out is to build strong partnerships between the police and communities and to promote crime awareness programs such as Neighborhood Community Watch groups. Last year's national event was the largest ever that involved 37 million people in 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.
