Media Relations Contact: December 8, 2009 Employees nominate company for unique honor based on usage of Mapsco products to achieve DART's daily mission Mapsco Names DART First Corporate 'Road Scholar'
"We appreciate the recognition by Mapsco and we appreciate that they share our passion for helping people get around our area safely and efficiently," DART President/Executive Director Gary Thomas said. DART was chosen as the first corporate Mapsco Road Scholar based on a number of entries employees submitted talking about their daily usage of Mapsco products. For example, DART teaches a class on map reading to Paratransit operators which involves Mapsco street guides. The operators map their trips each time using Mapsco. Station monitors and transportation supervisors use them regularly to answer questions about area landmarks, large employers and major destinations along bus routes. "We are pleased to be considered a resource for one of Dallas' most important agencies," said Tracy Eubanks, executive vice president and COO of Mapsco, Inc. "DART has a tremendously positive impact on the way people move around Dallas, and we are proud to be a part of that." DART was chosen from dozens by a judging panel comprised of Mapsco leadership and several local media personalities: Tammy Dombeck, NBC 5; Alexa Conomos, WFAA; and Victoria Snee, Mix 102.9. DART receives a $250 gift certificate for Mapsco products, a photo and story in a half-page ad in the 60th edition Dallas Street Guide and 41st edition Fort Worth Street Guide (to debut in the fall of 2010) - and bragging rights as an official "Mapsco Road Scholar." -- 30 -- |
