DART honored by state transit group

The Texas Transit Association (TTA) has named Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) the Outstanding Metropolitan Transit System. The award was presented at the association's conference in Galveston.

According to TTA, "the award is given to a metropolitan public transportation system that has designed and implemented programs which demonstrate innovative concepts or effective problem-solving techniques applied successfully in the public transportation industry."

DART was selected by TTA for a number of recent accomplishments including the successful expansion of its light rail system, superior safety record and a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening employee, customer and community relations.
