DART's bike to work day "energizer stations" announced
Dallas Area Rapid Transit will celebrate National Bike to Work Day by hosting six "bike energizer stations" from 7 to 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 16. The stations will have information about local bicycle issues, along with free promotional items, refreshments and tune-ups.
Join in the festivities at the Downtown Garland Station, 430 W. Walnut St.; St. Paul Station on Bryan Ave between N. St. Paul and Harwood in downtown Dallas; Arapaho Center Station, 1051 N. Greenville Ave. in Richardson; Las Colinas Urban Center Station, 890 Lake Carolyn Parkway in Irving, and at the intersection of the Bluebonnet and Chisholm Trails in Plano (near Jack Carter Dog Park). Bikes are permitted on any DART vehicle and all Trinity Railway Express trains.
Location update: There will be a bike energizer station at Trinity Mills Station, 2525 Blanton Dr. in Carrollton as well.
DART is also re-configuring the middle car (C-Car) on 10 light rail vehicles to better accommodate bicycles, wheelchairs, strollers and luggage. This additional space keeps the aisles and doorways clear to allow individuals to move around more freely and is better suited for travelers coming to and from DFW Airport and Dallas Love Field with rolling luggage in tow. DART will evaluate customer feedback and consider rolling out the design to the entire fleet after completion of the pilot program later this year.
