DART's "Friendly Food Fight" Collects for Local Charity

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) employees collected nonperishable food this year for the Union Gospel Mission of Dallas. The drive collected 55,029 pounds of various food items or more than 27.5 tons.

The announcement was made during an early morning celebration at DART Headquarters, Thursday, Dec. 17.

Pallets and bags of collected food from DART's 'Friendly Food Fight' campaign, as well as $8,158 in cash, were presented to the Union Gospel Mission to feed the hungry in North Texas.

Completely supported by individual, business and church donations, Union Gospel Mission has been sheltering and serving homeless men and women in Dallas and its surrounding areas since 1949.
