Like a prepaid card, you load value onto your Discount GoPass Tap card account before you start riding DART. Then, you simply touch the card to the electronic reader every time you board or transfer to a vehicle. Your fare deducts automatically.

They are located on buses and at rail stations. You do not need to tap as you exit or de-board.

There is no purchase or activation fee. However, there is an initial $6 minimum load.

You also will be asked to provide an email address so you can manage your Discount GoPass Tap card account online. An email address is not required to obtain your card.

No. The card itself acts as proof of eligibility for a reduced fare.

Each familiy member must register individually, and each will receive his or her own Discount GoPass Tap card. When you apply for your tap card, upload your current participant card or agency letter from a qualifying assistance program and any documentation that lists all family members who also receive benefits.

Your card may take up to 15 business days to arrive in the mail. If it has been longer than that,
call DART's Tap for Half team at 972-482-6491.

Your Discount GoPass Tap card is valid for half-price fares through the expiration date on the decal on your card. Currently, the Discount GoPass Tap card pilot program is scheduled to expire on Dec. 31, 2024.

To renew your discount, you must visit DARTmart at Akard Station, provide documentation that you still qualify for the program, and receive a new expiration decal for your card.

If you did not renew your registration for 2024, your GoPass Tap card still works. You may use any funds remaining on your GoPass Tap account, but the system will now deduct a full local adult fare. However, the card will no longer serve as a reduced-fare photo ID without a current expiration decal.

DART will contact current participants in late 2024 to inform them of the pilot program's renewal status. If the pilot program is terminated, your card will default to a regular-fare GoPass Tap card.
