DART Makes it easy for customers to buy transit passes using their payment of choice. For those who prefer paper tickets, DART has ticket vending machines (TVM) on the platforms of all light rail and TRE stations and the Northwest Plano Park and Ride.
TVMs accept debit/credit cards and cash - with one exception. The TVMs at the Northwest Plano Park & Ride accept credit cards only.
Please note: The credit/debit card reader is permanently broken on many TVM machines. DART encourages you to pay with cash at a TVM or try one of our contactless payment methods. Click here to learn how.
DART’s TVM is easy to use. Simply follow the prompts and select the appropriate buttons. Multiple types of tickets may also be purchased in a single transaction on these machines.
In addition to debit/credit cards, TVMs will accept coins and bills for $1, $5, $10, and $20. They do not accept pennies. The TVM makes changes in dollar coins, so try to use the smallest bill possible when purchasing passes with cash.
If you buy one of these reduced-fare passes, you must also travel with a valid DART-issued reduced-fare tap card. If you do not have a DART-issued reduced-fare tap card, you can obtain one by applying online, (https://dartaccess.dart.org/reducedfareid/senior) or visiting DARTmart located at DART Headquarters at Akard Station in downtown Dallas.
Seniors over 65 may also use their Medicare card as their ID. High school students may use a valid DART Service Area high school ID.
