DART to Independence Day Celebrations
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) invite you to show off your love for America this 4th of July weekend by celebrating with family and friends at various area events.

July 3
Fireworks on Main celebrates freedom with live music, festival-style foods, children's activities, games and a spectacular fireworks display. This free event runs from 6-10 p.m. in downtown Rowlett. Information: rowlett.com. (Via FREE DART Shuttle from 5:30 to 11 p.m. from Rowlett Park & Ride and Rowlett High School).
Kaboom Town is Addison's annual Independence Day celebration featuring dazzling fireworks choreographed to music, plus food, live music, family activities, spectacular Cavanaugh Flight Museum historic warplane flyovers and more. Stay after the fireworks and watch a free showing of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The free festival is from 5 p.m. to midnight at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle Drive. Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration offers fun and fireworks in the nostalgic setting of Farmers Branch Historical Park, 2540 Farmers Branch Lane. Irving Independence Day Parade begins at 9 a.m. in downtown Irving. Immediately following the parade, a patriotic concert will be featured at Heritage Park, 217 Main St. Information: 972-721-2501 or cityofirving.org. (Via Trinity Railway Express (TRE) to South Irving Station).
The Plano Early Lions Club presents the annual Plano Independence Day Parade. Wake up the family; grab some breakfast and lawn chairs to join thousands of other cheering faces to celebrate the holiday. The parade route is on Independence Parkway, starting at Plano Senior High School at 9 a.m., and then proceeds north to Spring Creek Parkway. Information: 972-985-8260 or www.planoparade.net.. Star Spangled Celebration features live music, children and family activities, farmers market, and a spectacular fireworks display choreographed to patriotic songs on KLTY 94.9 FM. July 4
The Plano Symphony Orchestra presents the annual Patriotic Pops Chorus performing a rousing and inspiring tribute to America and Independence Day at 3 p.m. at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson. All-American Fourth is Plano's annual fireworks show that launches from Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve at 9:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs, picnic dinners and radios to relax on the grassy slopes of First United Methodist Church, Collin College and Plano Centre for the best views. Patriotic music will be simulcast on 97.5 KLAK. Information: 972-941-PARK or planoparks.org.
Irving's Firecracker Fourth presents a patriotic concert by the Irving Symphony Orchestra followed by a spectacular fireworks show. Arrive early to enjoy entertainment by local bands. Star-Spangled Spectacular is the Dallas Wind Symphony's annual red, white and blue salute to Mom, apple pie and Uncle Sam! There will be toe-tapping Sousa marches, patriotic favorites and "musical fireworks" in this festive air-conditioned tribute at 1 p.m. at the Morton H. July 5
Fair Park Fourth... on the Fifth features spectacular fireworks, patriotic music, carnival games, great food and more throughout the grounds of historic Fair Park. The free event begins at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by the Dallas Wind Symphony from 8:45 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. The free fireworks spectacular bursts into the skies over Fair Park at 9:30 p.m. Information: fairpark.org. DART Rail Green Line will have 15 minute service from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Note: DART Rail and bus services will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, July 5.
