Media Relations Contact: November 7, 2007 Downtown rail station closures begin Wednesday, Nov. 21 DART to operate Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day Downtown Rail Improvements Require Some Station Closures and Bus Shuttles Wednesday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 25 Most DART services will operate on a Sunday schedule in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, Thursday, November 22 and a modified schedule on Friday, November 23.
Bus shuttles replace trains between Mockingbird & West End stations From approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21 through Sunday, November 25, northbound and southbound train service between Mockingbird and West End stations will be replaced with bus shuttles. Trains will resume regular service on Monday, November 26. Southbound Red and Blue Line trains will operate to Mockingbird station. Northbound Red and Blue Line trains will operate to West End station. There will be no rail service between the following stations: Mockingbird, Cityplace, Pearl, St. Paul, Akard, and West End. On Wednesday, November 21, shuttle buses will operate approximately every five minutes during rush hours and every 10 minutes during non-rush hours. Shuttles will operate approximately every 10 minutes all day from Thursday, November 22 through Sunday, November 25. LOCAL BUS SHUTTLE SERVICE: will circulate between Mockingbird and West End stations for passengers who have destinations at Cityplace, Pearl, St. Paul, or Akard stations. NON-STOP SHUTTLE SERVICE: will provide service to Mockingbird and West End stations for passengers who wish to continue Red or Blue Line rail services northbound from Mockingbird or southbound from West End. Customers should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time, and check the schedule on any connecting bus routes they may be using. Shuttle bus service for special events
Shuttle buses will depart Mockingbird and West End stations every 10 minutes beginning at 6 p.m. and will continue until 30 minutes after the games end. The shuttle bus stop will be located on the south side of Olive Street, just east of Houston Street.
Buses displaying TURKEY TROT will operate from Mockingbird Station to Convention Center Station approximately every 10 minutes between 7:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. and approximately every 20 minutes between 9:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Return buses from Convention Center Station to Mockingbird Station will operate approximately every 10 minutes between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Northbound customers leaving after 2 p.m. may take DART Rail to West End Station and board the non-stop bus shuttle to Mockingbird Station. DART Rail service between West End and Westmoreland and Ledbetter stations will also serve Convention Center Station. DART Rail expansion smoothes connections The temporary shuttle service will accommodate construction that will result in a more direct rail route in and out of the subway under North Central Expressway. In addition to making train trips faster and smoother, this project and modifications planned at downtown stations during the next two years will make the system more convenient as it makes way for new Green Line service. When complete in 2010, the 28-mile Green Line will connect Pleasant Grove, downtown Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton.
