June 10, 2003 Two DART Rail drop-off locations, TRE service, advance ticket purchases
DART offers tips for traveling to Trinity Fest 2003
DART Rail trains will pull into two downtown Dallas rail stations on July 4th delivering North Texans to Trinity Fest 2003, Dallas' Independence Day celebration, featuring the largest fireworks show in the history of Texas. And for the first time, the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) will operate on the 4th, exclusively to carry festivalgoers from stations in Irving and CentrePort/DFW Airport to Trinity Fest.
DART Rail To accommodate expected large crowds, DART will run trains every 10 minutes from noon to 1:30 a.m. and utilize both Union Station and Convention Center Station to drop off and pick up Trinity Fest passengers. Both stations are a short walk from the event site. All Red Line trains will drop off and pick up festivalgoers at Convention Center Station only; all Blue Line trains will drop off and pick up at Union Station only. The Red Line will not stop at Union Station, and the Blue Line will not stop at Convention Center Station.
DART Rail: Every 10 minutes from noon to 1:30 a.m.; Red Line service to Convention Center Station only; Blue Line service to Union Station only.
Trinity Railway Express (TRE) The TRE will operate on a special schedule that day from CentrePort/DFW Airport Station, West Irving Station and South Irving Station only to Union Station. All TRE Trinity Fest riders must purchase a special reservation-only round-trip ticket in advance; no tickets will be sold from TRE ticket vending machines (TVMs) on July 4th.
Riders will purchase a Red, White or Blue TRE round-trip ticket, which will correspond to a Red, White or Blue TRE train. Each color specifies the times at which the train will stop at the four stations. Riders can only board the train specified by their ticket color, both to and from Trinity Fest. Only 500 tickets will be sold for each of the three TRE trains.
