Media Relations Contact: April 20, 2000 DART's Roger Snoble Honored by Texas DOT DART President Recognized as "Friend of Texas Transit"
Roger Snoble, president/executive director of Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), has received the 1999 Friend of Texas Transit Award from the Texas Department of Transportation. The award recognizes an individual for outstanding service in the interest of public transportation in Texas. Since joining DART in 1994, Snoble has been the driving force behind DART's development into a multi-modal transit system. During his tenure, DART has introduced the Southwest's first modern light rail and commuter rail systems, plus a network of high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes. In recognition of those accomplishments, DART was named the American Public Transit Association's Transit Agency of the Year in 1997. In 1998 Snoble was awarded the American Public Transit Association's Jesse L. Haugh Award, honoring the transit manager who has contributed the most to advance urban transit in the United States and Canada. Before coming to DART, Snoble spent 20 years at the San Diego Transit Corporation. For 15 years, he was president and general manager of the SDTC. -- 30 -- |
