Festival season is here, and DART gets you there swiftly and safely. Here are festivals, celebrations and other events that are located at or near a DART rail station or transit center. Many have become local rites of spring. Get on board and soak up some sun and fun at these favorites.

Families save big on Saturdays this summer. One $10 regional day pass delivers rides for two adults and up to four kids under 14. Saturdays only through August 17.

Take DART to the Nelson May 13-19 The 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship will be held at the TPC Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas, 4150 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving. Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival May 17-19 Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival is an award-winning, multi-day eclectic arts and music festival featuring six performance stages, the Wild! Marketplace, the Taste of Texas Food Garden, the family friendly Kidz Korner, and a whole lot more! The festival is located at the Galatyn Park Urban Center in Richardson at US 75 and Galatyn Parkway. Festival hours are Friday 6 p.m. to midnight, Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Information: www.wildflowerfestival.com.

Taste Addison May 17-19 Taste Addison offers a tasty weekend blend of food, music and family fun at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle Dr. This three-day festival features over 60 Addison restaurants serving generous samplings of their menus at reduced prices, national musical entertainment, celebrity chef demonstrations and wine tasting seminars, carnival rides, midway games, award-winning children's entertainment, and more. 2013 Asian Festival May 18 The 2013 Asian Festival returns to the Main Street Garden, 1902 Main Street in downtown Dallas from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This FREE family event features authentic Asian cuisine, cultural performances, unique products and artwork at the Asian World Market, children's activities, healthy living, games and many other activities! Each year, the Asian Festival attracts thousands of people from all over North Texas. It showcases more than 30 Asian cultural performances; ranging from dance, martial arts, acrobats, dragon dances, hula dancers and many more. Begin the festival with Tai Chi and yoga exercises or enjoy the Faces of Asia Cultural Procession. Keep your children entertained at the "Passport to Asia for Kids" and your belly happy with delights from the assorted food trucks and vendors offering authentic cuisines of Asia. The Asian Festival is brought to you by the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC) and co-sponsored by the Multi Ethnic Education and Economic Development Center (MEED). Downtown Rowlett May 25 Enjoy Rowlett Memorial Day on Main from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring the entire family to downtown Rowlett to celebrate Memorial Day and honor our fallen military heroes. The event begins with the Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. in Veteran's Park, followed by 'Touch-A-Truck', a fun and educational opportunity for children of all ages to touch, climb on, in and explore vehicles of all sizes. Featured will be a DART bus, CareFlite Ambulance, School bus, Dump Truck, Front End Loader, Tractor Trailer, Fire Truck, Rowlett Ambulance, Police Car, Motorcycle and SWAT vehicle, Police Command Post, VIPS unit, Mowers, Tractor, Trash Truck, Tow Truck and more! There will also be bounce houses, crafts and face painting as well as other kid's activities. Information: www.rowlett.com.

Liberty Fest May 25 Liberty Fest returns to Farmers Branch Historical Park, 2540 Farmers Branch Lane, on Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy live entertainment featuring Easton Corbin, Randy Houser and Jack Ingram, children's activities, an Arts & Crafts Marketplace, the Best Burger of Liberty Fest contest, food and beverages available for purchase, and a presentation by The American Fallen Soldiers Project. Gates open at 12 noon and lawn seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Liberty Fest is a free, ticketed event for the whole family! This means that every person will need a ticket in order to enter the festival grounds. Free tickets are available online (through May 22) and at the designated ticket locations listed on the Liberty Fest website. Entry will be $10 at the gate for those who do not present a ticket. DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival May 26 The 2013 DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival features colorful kite flying and exciting dragon boat races, cultural performances, a lantern festival, plus traditional Asian food, arts and crafts and educational activities. Come enjoy a day of fun and exciting cultural diversity and educational activities. Admission is free. The festival is held on Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas. May 26-Sept. 15 Hotel Texas: An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the Dallas Museum of Art will bring together the works of art installed in the president's suite at the Hotel Texas during his fateful trip in 1963. The original installation, orchestrated by a small group of Fort Worth art collectors, was created especially for the president and first lady in celebration of their overnight visit to the city and included paintings by Vincent van Gogh, Thomas Eakins, Lyonel Feininger, Franz Kline, and Marsden Hartley, and sculptures by Pablo Picasso and Henry Moore, among others. June 1-Sept. 1 Katharina Grosse: Wunderblock. This summer visitors can experience two new works created for the Nasher by Berlin-based artist Katharina Grosse. For more than two decades, Grosse has been making large installations consisting of brightly colored acrylic paints sprayed onto walls, ceilings, piles of dirt, and sculpted styrofoam and fiberglass shapes. Taking inspiration from frescoes, plein-air painting, Abstract Expressionism, and urban graffiti, Grosse explores how painting can "appear in space" – in the realm of sculpture and architecture – by giving color monumental and palpable form. Singin' in the Rain June 14-16 and 21-23 The Garland Summer Musicals presents Singin' in the Rain. 1920's Hollywood is the setting for this zany, light-hearted romantic comedy about the early days of sound film. Each unforgettable scene and song and dance is accounted for, including the showstopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin' in the Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan! June 14 A Wine Walk will be held in historical Downtown Carrollton on Friday, June 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. Enjoy a festive evening visiting your favorite shops while sampling fine wines.
