Brunch + Matinée + Dessert = DARTably Delightful
Everybody has an idea of a perfect weekend day, but who would argue with a great breakfast or brunch followed by a matinée? Throw in dessert, and it's a shoo-in. Might we suggest these DARTable destinations?

Angela's at the Crosswalk. This Plano stronghold of Southern cooking makes a mean breakfast and offers $1-off drinks at brunch. That's good, since their mimosas have developed a following. The eggs Benedict and quiche Florentine are top flight, too – not to mention pies made from scratch daily. It's a short walk from Downtown Plano Station.

Trevi's (at the Omni Mandalay). Enjoy an excellent buffet, plus cooked-to-order omelets with every ingredient you can imagine. There's also a create-your-own granola parfait station, plus freshly squeezed orange juice and a wide selection of fruits. Don't miss the pastries and breads in a beautiful setting near Las Colinas Urban Center Station.

Angelika Film Center. This local favorite is one of Dallas' premier art-house theaters, featuring foreign films, mainstream releases and even the occasional blockbuster. The theater features comfortable seating and great sightlines. Order a cocktail if you like. Take the escalator up from Mockingbird Station and you're there.

Alamo Drafthouse. Awaited eagerly by local film buffs, the Alamo Drafthouse was an instant favorite. It's a little taste of Austin in Dallas, featuring thoughtfully selected films, great food, cocktails and a solid beer list, all served right to your seat. The experience is not far from Convention Center Station.

Magnolia Theater. Another venue treasured by film fans, this cozy cinema is in the bustling West Village, where parking is at a premium. It has great cocktails and nibbles, and is only a short walk from Cityplace/Uptown Station.

Emporium Pies. This popular spot sells pies out of a quaint Craftsman bungalow in the charming Bishop Arts District. Selections range from German chocolate to buttermilk to banana custard with maple and caramel. Don't miss the Smooth Operator, a chocolate concoction with a pretzel crust. Emporium Pies is a couple of blocks from the Bishop Arts stop of the Dallas Streetcar.

Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie. You'll find tasty treasures here ranging from tarts and madeleines, to cookies and scones, to pastries and éclairs. Don't miss the macarons, which have a well-deserved reputation; they come in flavors such as tiramisu, pistachio, coffee and salted caramel. It's all but impossible to park near this French-inspired gold mine of sweet treats, which is all the more reason to get there via the M-Line Trolley.
